Fabian Espinoza

Fabian was born and raised in Rivas, Nicaragua, located in the southwest of the country and known as the “City of Mangos.” It was there that he first cultivated his love for nature and wildlife. Although he spent 13 years living in Costa Rica and now resides in Granada, Nicaragua, Fabian will always consider Rivas home.

Previously, Fabian worked in a Nicaraguan ecolodge as a carpenter, driver and receptionist. His love of nature, birds and people drew him to become a tour guide. Fabian completed courses emphasizing nature and sustainability in Costa Rica and Nicaragua through Flora and Fauna International and Lapa Rios Ecolodge. Unofficially, he spends hours each day with the most helpful teacher and an expansive classroom; nature itself. Fabian participates in campaigns to protect the environment, such as protecting turtles, educating children, and raising awareness to keep the local community clean.

In his free time, Fabian enjoys cooking with his wife, Claudia, practicing English and snapping pictures of local birds to add to his growing photo album. Around Jicaro Ecolodge, he can be found with a smile on his face and a camera around his neck. Fabian is excited to give tours of local destinations and natural wonders to the guests of Jicaro Ecolodge.
