The Green Season

What’s warm, refreshing and doesn’t last long? Rain! It’s different in Nicaragua. For many people the rainy season, or what we at Jicaro Island Ecolodge like to refer to as ‘The Green Season’ (May through October), is the best time to visit Nicaragua. The moniker is appropriate not only because everything is so lush and green, but also because we are an eco-friendly, sustainable hotel.

It is usually sunny in the mornings allowing ample time for fun and sun on hikes or in the lake. While the rainy season makes Nicaragua less intensely hot, the temperature does not drop drastically, so the rains are always warm, refreshing and therapeutic. And, the natural beauty of the country is enhanced because everything is super lush and green. Animals are more active because of the rain and because there are fewer people on trails so the wildlife and birdlife is more plentiful.

Cheaper airfares and lower hotel rates during the Grean Season mean  you can fly down to Managua for less.
